1 Information We Collect

Groov collects only what it needs to keep your habits in sync across your devices and to coach you. We do not sell your data, we show no advertising, and we use no advertising identifiers. The only usage analytics are a few anonymous, aggregated event counts (for example “a habit was created”) with no account id, habit names or free text, so they cannot be tied to you.

DataExamplesPurpose
Account Email address and a hashed password (email sign-up), or the name and email your Apple or Google account shares when you sign in with them; your display name Signing you in, greeting you, personalising coaching
Habit data Habits (name, icon, type, goal, reminder time), daily completions, the list of habits that existed each day, challenges and their progress Core functionality and cloud sync
Settings Theme, notification, sound and haptic preferences, reminder times Keeping your preferences across devices
Photos (optional) A photo you choose as a habit icon. The image stays on your device; we store only its file path Showing your custom icon on that device
Crash reports Error and stack trace, device model, OS version, app version, a random installation id, your account id Finding and fixing bugs

We do not collect your location, contacts, payment details, advertising identifiers or any government-issued identifiers. Apple lets you hide your real email address when you sign in with Apple; we only receive what you approve.

2 How We Use Your Information

Your information is used only to:

We do not use your data to build advertising profiles or to infer sensitive characteristics about you.

3 AI Coaching

Groov's AI coach writes a short daily nudge and, on request, a weekly or monthly reflection. To do that, our server sends the following to Anthropic's Claude API: your habit names and icons, your completion statistics for the recent period (counts, streaks and completion rates), how long you have been using Groov, and your display name.

Anthropic processes this under its commercial API terms, which do not permit using the data to train its models. The generated message is cached on our server so it is not regenerated every time you open the app, and it is deleted with your account.

Not sent: your email address, your password, your photos, or anything from your device other than the habit statistics listed above.

4 Data Storage & Security

Your account and habit data are stored with Supabase. Every database table enforces row-level security, so an account can only read and write its own records.

5 Who Processes Your Data

We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with anyone for their own purposes. These providers process data on our instructions:

ProviderPurposeData
SupabaseAuthentication, database, server functionsAccount and habit data
AnthropicGenerating coaching messagesHabit names, completion statistics, display name
Apple / GoogleOptional sign-inIdentity token, name, email
SentryCrash reportingCrash details, device and app version, account id
AptabaseAnonymous usage countsEvent name (e.g. habit_created), app version, OS, country derived from IP and then discarded. No account id, names or habit data

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users, and if Groov is ever transferred to a new owner your data would move with it under protections equivalent to this policy.

6 Notifications

All Groov reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not run a push notification service and do not hold push tokens. You can change or disable every reminder in the app's Settings, or turn off notifications for Groov in your device settings.

7 Children's Privacy

Groov is intended for users aged 13 and older (or the minimum age for online services in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us (section 12) and we will delete it.

8 Your Rights & Choices

9 Deleting Your Data or Account

Clear All Data: Settings → Clear All Data removes every habit, completion, challenge and setting from your device and our servers but keeps your account.
Delete Account: Settings → Delete Account permanently removes your account, all habit data and any cached coaching messages from our servers immediately.

If you can no longer sign in, contact us (section 12) with the email address on the account and we will delete it for you within 30 days.

Guest accounts. You can use Groov without creating an account. A guest account is a random identifier with no email, name or other personal data attached; your habits sync to it so they are not lost if the app is reinstalled on the same device. Adding an email, Apple or Google sign-in later keeps the same account. Signing out of a guest account without adding a sign-in orphans it, and orphaned guest accounts are deleted after 90 days.

Deletion is irreversible. Crash reports are retained by Sentry for 90 days and contain no habit data. Aptabase usage counts are anonymous and cannot be linked to an account, so there is nothing to delete.

10 California & Other Regional Rights

If you are a California resident you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. Residents of the EU, UK and other regions with similar laws have equivalent rights. To exercise any of them, use the in-app controls above or contact us.

11 Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page and mention it in the app's release notes. The current version always lives at this address.
